A Louisiana federal district court granted summary judgment to the Sheriff of Orleans Parish on a race discrimination claim under 42 U.S.C. § 1981 by a Black unit manager who was allegedly discriminatorily terminated, finding that his mere temporary replacement was insufficient to establish a prima facie case, that his position was ultimately eliminated, and four out of five of the individuals who received his duties were in his protected class.
