The United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit affirmed summary judgment for the Will County Sheriff’s Merit Commission, Will County Sheriff’s Office, and Will County, Illinois on the race discrimination claim under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act brought by a Black railroad signalman who applied to be a deputy sheriff, ruling that he failed to produce evidence that his race motivated his removal from the certification process, and that the negative employment reference was a legitimate, nondiscriminatory reason for his removal.
