The Seventh Circuit upheld an Illinois federal court’s grant of summary judgment to DePaul University on the claims of an Arab-American faculty member that his teaching contract wasn’t renewed and he was barred from future employment due to his race, in violation of Section 1981, ruling that there was insufficient evidence that DePaul’s proffered reasons for contract nonrenewal—lack of interest, salary demands, and alleged sexual harassment of a student—were pretext for racial discrimination.
