A terminated Asian client management director for Kafene, Inc. can’t proceed on her California Equal Pay Act claim alleging that a Black candidate who was hired in a position of the same title on the east coast was paid higher wages for similar work, a New York federal district court ruled, because her complaint didn’t show that the respective regions required the same amount of management for house accounts, nor did it meet the statutory threshold for “substantially similar work.”
