A federal district court denied the town of East Hartford’s motion for summary judgment on a Black police service aide’s claims of race discrimination and a hostile work environment in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Connecticut Fair Employment Practices Act after he was terminated for improperly using a department database and later reinstated. The court determined that issues of fact exist as to whether the aide’s supervisors acted with discriminatory motive in their disciplinary treatment of certain employees.
