An Illinois federal district court denied summary judgment to Big Iron Auction Company on a marital status discrimination claim under the Illinois Human Rights Act brought by a district sales manager who was separated/divorced, finding a genuine dispute of fact existed as to whether the company considered his divorce when denying promotions and offering him lower compensation than married coworkers, where he testified a supervisor said he wouldn’t be promoted “because you are getting divorced.”
