A Florida federal court granted summary judgment to the Mayo Clinic on the claims of a 71-year-old physician consultant that he was discharged due to his age and in retaliation for a close associate asserting pay equity rights, in violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and state law, ruling that the physician hadn’t presented sufficient evidence that age was a factor in his discharge, and that third-party retaliation isn’t cognizable under the FLSA.
