Cardinal Health Settles EEOC Suit Over Racist Workplace Graffiti

Cardinal Health will pay $1.45 million to settle a lawsuit brought by the EEOC alleging Black workers at one of its facilities in California endured a hostile work environment that included the use of a racially offensive term, the commission announced Friday.

Workers at the facility in Ontario, Calif., used the offensive term in conversation and also defaced restrooms with racially derogatory graffiti, according to a lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in May 2019. Black workers said they complained to their employment agency, AppleOne, and to Cardinal Health, but prompt remedial action wasn’t taken.
