Card-Trading Company Hit With Labor Charges Over Worker Threats

Online trading card marketplace TCGPlayer is being accused of stifling workers’ rights in the lead-up to a representation election March 10.

The Communications Workers of America, which is seeking to represent a unit of 266 employees in Syracuse, N.Y., has filed three unfair labor practice charges since workers announced their union campaign Jan. 25. The charges accuse TCGPlayer of interrogating, surveilling, and threatening workers for their union support.

EBay Inc.-owned TCGPlayer is one of the largest online marketplaces for trading card games, including Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon.
