Capital One Worker Says Bank Ignored Customers’ Racial Taunts

A Capital One relationship banker in Queens, N.Y., alleges in a new lawsuit that he was harassed by customers because he is black and that his branch manager and the bank did nothing to stop it.

The taunts were based on his race and color, Nicholas Drayton-Hamilton says. The harassment included repeated use of the N-word, routinely within earshot of Rockaway Park branch manager Jamie Rudy, the Nov. 23 lawsuit charges.

Another customer called him a “gorilla,” and others referred to him as the “brown guy” or the “black guy,” Drayton-Hamilton says.
