Cannabis Workers Not Protected by Labor Law, NLRB Lawyer Says

The NLRB’s Philadephia regional office dismissed unfair labor practice charges lodged against a Pennsylvania grower of medical marijuana, after a board attorney concluded the workers in question were agricultural laborers who aren’t covered by federal labor law.

The legal opinion, contained in an unsigned October memo from the advice division in the general counsel’s office, was made public by the National Labor Relations Board on Monday. The matter involved the Chester, Pa.-based company Agri-Kind.
