California’s Workplace Arbitration Law to Remain on Hold

A new California law designed to limit forced arbitration for workers in the Golden State will stay blocked while business advocates challenge it in court, a federal judge ruled.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other business groups convinced district Judge Kimberly Mueller Jan. 31 to extend a restraining order blocking the law, which would ban employers from forcing workers and job applicants to sign arbitration pacts as a condition of their jobs.
