California Unions, Companies Gear Up for New Gig Worker Law

The Daily Labor Report First Move will not publish Dec. 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday. We will resume Dec. 26.

Tens of thousands of workers could wake up to employment status in the new year as California’s stricter requirements for independent contractor classification go into effect Jan. 1. Unions will be standing by to attempt to organize the new employees.
