The California trucking industry filed a challenge to a new state law they say would make it “impractical if not impossible” for the industry to use independent contractors for services across state lines and renewed its push for a carve-out under federal law.
The California Trucking Association filed an amended complaint Nov. 12, again asking the court to declare unconstitutional a state law passed earlier this year that created a rigid standard for identifying workers as contractors, as opposed to employees.
