The California Supreme Court said Aug. 19 it will hear an appeal from the United Farm Workers and California officials over the validity of a state law allowing mediators to impose first contracts on agricultural employers when their employees are represented by a union (Gerawan Farming v. Agricultural Labor Relations Bd., Cal., S227243, petition for review granted 8/19/15.
The justices voted 7-0 to take the appeal of a ruling in May from a state appellate court that the law is unconstitutional 97 DLR A-3, 5/20/15, 9 WIR 366, 5/25/15, 29 LRW 1082, 5/27/15.
