California Professors Lose Caste Bias Case at Ninth Circuit (1)

Two Hindu professors failed to revive their lawsuit alleging that their California university’s addition of caste to its anti-discrimination policy violated their constitutional rights, after a federal appeals court ruled they lacked standing to sue.

A three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit declined Wednesday to overturn the dismissal of claims brought by California State University professors Sunil Kumar and Praveen Sinha. It found that the professors failed to show harm from the policy, a requirement for Article III standing.
