California Pay Transparency Bill Advances to Final Vote

California employers would need to specify how much a job pays before they hire someone under a bill the state Assembly advanced Monday.

Lawmakers voted 43-15 for state Sen. Monique Limon’s (D) measure (S.B. 1162). Under the proposal, California employers with 15 or more workers would be required to include salaries or hourly wages on job postings.

The state Senate must take up the bill for a final vote by Wednesday, and Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) would then have until Sept. 30 to sign or veto. Newsom hasn’t expressed his position.
