California Lawmakers OK Wave of Labor Bills by End of Session

California lawmakers passed more than a dozen labor-related bills in the last days of the 2021 legislative session, including ones to improve safety in warehouses, ban nondisclosure agreements for harassment, and strengthen the state’s work-safety regulator’s enforcement muscle.

The legislature was slated to end its work Friday on hundreds of measures that now head to Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) for his consideration. Newsom must sign or veto the bills by Oct. 10 regardless of the outcome of Tuesday’s recall election to remove him from office.
