California Lawmakers Approve Peace Officers Contract

California lawmakers approved a one-year labor contract that would give 27,349 members of the California Correctional Peace Officers Association a 5 percent pay increase and a one-time buyback of unused leave.

If signed by Gov. Jerry Brown (D) and ratified by CCPOA members, the contract would be in effect from July 3, 2018, through July 2, 2019. The peace officers, who mainly work as guards in state prisons, would receive their 5 percent raise on July 1, 2019.
