California Freezes ICE Access to Workplaces

Federal immigration officials must produce a warrant to gain access to California work sites under a new state law.

Gov. Jerry Brown (D) Oct. 5 signed A.B. 450, a measure by Assemblyman David Chiu (D) to limit U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s access to workplaces. Brown also signed S.B. 54 by Sen. Kevin de Leon (D) to limit the ability of local law enforcement officials to help federal immigration agents.
