California Barber Shop Must Face Wage Claim Despite Settlement

A former barber shop worker who said Floyd’s 99-California LLC failed to pay overtime, reimburse employment expenses, and pay wages when due, among other things, can proceed with a suit under California’s Private Attorneys General Act, based on new precedent from the state’s top court, an appeals court said Wednesday.

Freddy Geiger sued his former employer on behalf of himself and a proposed class. The Orange County Superior Court ordered his individual wage and hour claims into arbitration, and stayed remaining class claims and a PAGA claim while it proceeded.
