California AI Anti-Discrimination Bill Pared to Employment Acts

Major artificial intelligence measures in California that would set the nation’s standard on public safety rules around AI models and establish rules to prevent discrimination from algorithms were approved Thursday by the legislature’s appropriation committees.

However, the scope of the anti-discrimination measure was narrowed significantly in an attempt to reduce costs, applying to employment matters only instead of the wide-ranging scope of housing, health, and other issues.
