California AG Fights Truckers’ Bid to Block Classification Law

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (D) asked the Southern District of California to deny the California Trucking Association’s request to block enforcement of a worker classification law set to take effect Jan. 1, 2020.

The plaintiffs lack standing and can’t establish either irreparable harm or likelihood of success on their claims that that the law is preempted by federal law and unconstitutionally discriminates and burdens interstate commerce, the state argued Dec. 16.
