Calif. Kaiser Mental Health Workers Start Five-Day Strike (1)

Kaiser Permanente mental health workers are striking more than 100 clinics and medical facilities over staffing issues that led to a $4 million state fine.

The National Union of Healthcare Workers notified the state of the Dec. 10-14 strike at the health maintenance organization. The union representing 4,000 psychologists, therapists, and clinical social workers, which filed a complaint that led to the California Department of Managed Health Care fine, argues insufficient staffing continues to lead to patients waiting weeks or months for service.
