Calif. Jury Says Dollar Tree’s Register-Printed Pay Stubs Okay

Dollar Tree doesn’t violate California wage statement laws when it has some of its employees print out their pay stubs on receipt paper at the register, a jury ruled.

Francisca Guillen, representing a class of 5,400 workers who received their payments via direct deposit, argued that the receipt paper stubs weren’t easily accessible under state law. But the jury ultimately concluded that Dollar Tree Stores Inc. did provide easy access to electronic wage statements, according to the redacted verdict form. (Guillen v. Dollar Tree Stores Inc., C.D.
