California’s labor commissioner is going after Calcrete Construction Inc. for $6.3 million in claims of wage-and-hour violations and worker misclassification.
The almost two-year period of alleged violations “definitely makes it a noteworthy investigation” for the labor commissioner’s office, a spokesman for the the state’s Division of Labor Standards Enforcement told Bloomberg BNA Aug. 14. The 249 workers affected by the alleged violations “would be a pretty large group,” which is a factor tending to result in the labor commissioner’s high prioritization of such a case, he added.
