The owner of three New York City Papa John’s pizza franchise locations will pay almost $172,000 to settle a state-federal investigation into allegations that he underpaid more than 100 workers and illegally deducted wages from their paychecks.
The civil settlement with owner Sandeep Singh, announced Jan. 5 by New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman (D), was the latest in a multiyear series of stepped-up wage enforcement actions by the state.
