Boilermakers Sue Former President Over $500,000 in Misused Funds

The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers is suing its former president, seeking nearly $500,000 in repayment for allegedly mismanaged funds.

IBB filed its complaint in US District Court for the Western District of Missouri Monday, accusing Newton B. Jones of violating the Labor Management Relations Act by refusing to remit the cash.

Jones has been at the center of litigation surrounding his use of the union’s money. IBB’s executive council removed Jones from his post in June 2023 and ordered him to repay funds that he allegedly used to travel to Ukraine and paid to his wife. Jones then refused to ...
