Boeing Machinists Cleared for Union Vote at South Carolina Plant (2)

A group of technicians at the Boeing Co. airplane manufacturing campus in South Carolina can vote later this month to join the International Association of Machinists, a NLRB regional director ruled May 21.

This marks the union’s third attempt in recent years to organize some of the workers at the North Charleston, S.C., facility, which produces the company’s 787 Dreamliner. The 787 is a commercial airliner that also is assembled at an IAM-represented plant in Everett, Wash.

National Labor Relations Board Region 10 will hold a secret-ballot election May 31 for a group of 178 workers described by the company ...
