Bob Evans $16.5M Overtime Deal Gets First OK

Bob Evans Inc. will pay $16.5 million to settle claims it didn’t pay about 2,500 assistant managers for overtime work, according to a settlement agreement that received preliminary court approval Oct. 23 (Snodgrass v. Bob Evans Farms Inc., S.D. Ohio, 2:12-cv-00768, settlement preliminarily approved 10/23/15).

Misclassifying employees as exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act’s overtime requirements has received renewed attention in recent months as the Department of Labor proceeds with plans to increase the salary threshold.
