Blue Apron Investor Sues to Get Minimum Wage on 2022 Ballot (1)

Backers of an initiative to raise California’s minimum wage are asking a court to place it on the Nov. 8 general election ballot — two years before the proposal is eligible for a vote.

Slow signature verification by county officials wrongly kept the initiative off this year’s ballots, backers of an $18 minimum wage, including enterpreneur Joe Sanberg and US Rep. Nanette Barragán (D-Calif.), argue in a Sacramento Superior Court filing submitted Thursday.

Sanberg, the investor behind the meal delivery company Blue Apron, has donated close to $11 million to the measure’s campaign, according to the Fair Political Practices Commission ...
