Black PNC Bank Teller Fails to Show Bias in ‘Better Off’ Remarks

A PNC Bank branch manager’s alleged comments to a Black teller-lead supervisor that she would be “better off” working at an urban branch because of her race failed to state a viable racial harassment claim, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania ruled.

Latonya Wesley said Ephrata, Pa., branch general manager Suzanne Ratcliffe, who is White, also told her she was “different” because she is Black, and that an inner city branch would be better for her because “white conservatives” made up the Ephrata branch’s client base, the court said.
