Black Amazon Worker’s Race Bias, Retaliation Claims Move Forward

A Black former Amazon.com Services LLC worker defeated the company’s bid for an early end to a lawsuit alleging it fired him for speaking up about race discrimination, a federal judge said.

Amazon’s denials of the worker’s bias and retaliation allegations mean material facts are still in dispute, so the retailer isn’t entitled to judgment on the pleadings, the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida said. There’s also a factual dispute over whether the worker agreed to the terms of an earlier settlement that Amazon says waived his claims, the Thursday order said.
