BJ’s Wholesale Club Hit With Maryland Age Discrimination Suit

BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc. forced older workers in Maryland to accept demotions and pay cuts or face termination, according to a potential collective action filed in federal court.

Shelia Franklin, Maria Claros, and Sheri Rainge were recently forced to accept demotions and cuts to their hourly pay rates, despite being expected to continue performing the same responsibilities and duties as before, according to their complaint filed Monday at the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. They were told that if they didn’t accept the changes, they’d be fired, the plaintiffs allege.
