Biometric Appointment Delays Threaten Visa Work Permits

When U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services closed application support centers in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, Priyanka Gupta hoped that her application to renew her work authorization set to expire July 13 wouldn’t be affected.

Now, nearly a month after losing employment authorization because the USCIS closures kept her from completing the fingerprinting requirement for her renewal application, Gupta is in the untenable situation of being furloughed without pay from her job as a vice president technology manager at a large financial institution.
