The Montana Senate advanced a bill Friday that would forbid private and public employers from requiring employees to be vaccinated or have a vaccine passport as a condition of employment.
The Senate passed the bill (H.B. 702) on a third reading vote of 32-18 and forwarded it to the House for consideration of Senate amendments. If the House approves the amended bill as anticipated, it will be on its way to Gov. Greg Gianforte (R), who is expected to sign it. Gianforte issued an executive order banning the required use of vaccine passports in the state.
