Big Increases, Cuts in President’s Fiscal 2019 Budget

President Donald Trump’s fiscal 2019 budget proposal will reflect the higher spending levels in the recently enacted Bipartisan Budget Act (Public Law 115-123), with big increases proposed for border security, veterans, and the opioid crisis.

At the same time, the budget will include “an aggressive set of spending reforms” intended to cut deficits by $3 trillion over 10 years, reducing debt as a percentage of gross domestic product, and improving the nation’s long-term fiscal sustainability, said a fact sheet released by the Office of Management and Budget.
