Biden’s Deputy Labor Secretary Pick Advanced by Senate Panel (1)

Julie Su, the Biden administration’s nominee to be deputy U.S. labor secretary, was approved by the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee Wednesday, according to two committee aides.

Su, the California labor secretary, is now eligible for consideration by the full Senate. The committee’s vote was 13 to 9, with moderate Republicans Susan Collins (Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) joining Democrats in voting to support her.

It wasn’t immediately clear when Su would be considered by the full Senate, where Democrats hold the tie-breaking vote.
