Biden Seeks 11% Boost to Labor Agency Budget in Fiscal 2024 (2)

President Joe Biden’s budget blueprint would give the US Labor Department $15.1 billion in fiscal year 2024, requesting that Congress provide an 11% boost for an agency that he’s also asked to address pandemic unemployment fraud and an uptick in child labor abuses.

The request would represent $1.5 billion over the current year for fiscal 2024, which begins Oct. 1, according to a White House fact sheet.

The president also proposed a national paid leave program that would offer employees 12 weeks of paid leave for family or medical reasons that would be administered by the Social Security Administration. The ...
