Biden Axes Trump Memo Giving DOD Power Over Union Bargaining (1)

A Trump-era memorandum that gave the secretary of defense the authority to end collective bargaining at Defense Department agencies on national security grounds was rescinded by President Joe Biden.

Former President Donald Trump’s January 2020 memo also allowed the defense secretary to extend the authority to end collective bargaining to other Senate-confirmed political appointees at DOD. The department shouldn’t “be forced to sacrifice its national security mission” by engaging in union bargaining at all DOD agencies and components, he’d said in the memo.
