Biden Forms Labor Board to Head Off Rail Worker Union Strike (1)

President Joe Biden on Friday established a board to resolve a deep rift between 115,000 rail workers and the largest US railroads, aiming to head off a strike that could paralyze the transportation of goods.

The Presidential Emergency Board has 30 days to come up with a plan for a labor contract that’s acceptable to both union workers and railroad management. Once the board issues a non-binding report with resolution recommendations, the two parties will have another 30 days to accept or reject the plan.
