Biden Elevates EEOC Democrats Burrows, Samuels to Top Roles

President Joe Biden has named Charlotte Burrows as the Democratic chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, with Republican Janet Dhillon stepping down from the role to serve as a commissioner.

Democrat Jocelyn Samuels will serve as vice chair of the commission, the agency announced Thursday. The civil rights agency enforces federal anti-discrimination laws in the workplace.

The EEOC’s leadership panels is currently made up of two Democrats and three Republicans, as well as a Republican general counsel. Republicans will maintain a majority at the agency until at least July 2022, when Dhillon’s term expires, potentially affecting policy, litigation ...
