The Senate’s top labor panel was unable to advance Jessica Looman’s nomination to be the Department of Labor’s wage chief, in another blow to the nominee who failed to make it through the confirmation process last year.
The Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee voted 11-10 on Looman’s nomination to the administrator role at the DOL’s Wage and Hour Division. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) voted for Looman by proxy, but Senate rules don’t allow the deciding vote on a panel confirmation to be by proxy, making the committee unable to report her nomination favorably.
