A lawsuit challenging the termination of Temporary Protected Status for Afghans and Cameroonians in the US can go ahead, but the protections won’t be preserved while litigation continues, a federal judge ruled.
The decision means that deportation relief and work authorization for about 11,700 individuals from Afghanistan will expire July 14, while about 5,200 TPS holders from Cameroon are set to lose those benefits Aug. 4.
