Bible College Must Face Sex Discrimination, Retaliation Lawsuit

Moody Bible Institute largely lost its bid to escape a former instructor’s Title VII lawsuit, in part because the case won’t require wading into questions of religious doctrine, a federal court in Illinois said Tuesday.

Janay Garrick worked as an instructor of communications at Moody, a post-secondary religious school that receives federal aid. Moody adheres to a “complementarian” doctrine that forbids women from acting as religious leaders.
