Avanath Capital Management LLC didn’t investigate before firing a worker over online rumors that she discriminated against Trump voters while on leave to support FEMA disaster relief, a new lawsuit says.
The real estate investment firm was on the verge of promoting Marn’i Washington to vice president before she faced “false and politically charged accusations” of deliberately skipping homes with signs supporting then-candidate Donald Trump, according to her complaint filed Sunday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of California. Avanath fired her based solely on its “desire to disassociate itself from online controversy,” she said.
