Au Pair Wages Won’t Get High Court Review in Massachusetts Case

This U.S. Supreme Court declined to consider whether foreign “au pairs” who provide live-in childcare services for U.S. families must be paid according to Massachusetts wage laws.

The justices on Monday let stand a U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit ruling that said the State Department’s cultural exchange J-1 visa program for au pairs doesn’t override, or preempt, Massachusetts law.
