Assurant Ignored Racism Claims by Black Employees, Suit Says (1)

Executives at Assurant Inc. subjected Black employees to “devastating” racial discrimination and either ignored their complaints or retaliated against them, according to a Thursday filing in a New York federal court.

Assurant paid plaintiffs and proposed class members in its automobile insurance division “substantially less than their White peers,” and it consistently promoted “less credentialed, less experienced and lower performing employees” because they were White, according to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
