Businesses can hire 14- and 15-year-old workers more easily in Arkansas under a measure Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed into law, eliminating the state’s youth worker permitting requirement.
The law (HB 1410) will erase the need for children younger than 16 to request a work permit from the state’s labor agency before taking a job. Sanders (R) signed the Republican-backed bill this week after the state legislature passed it largely along party lines, with a March 2 vote of 24-9 in the Senate and a Feb. 22 vote of 54-32 in the House.
