States Balk at Apprenticeship Plan

A lack of detail and less local oversight have several states pulling away from the Labor Department’s plan to expand apprenticeships before it’s even begun.

The Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Program is a big focus for President Donald Trump and Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta. Based on what the DOL has released so far, some state-level apprenticeship agency leaders already are looking askance at the program. They shared with Jaclyn Diaz their concerns about what these programs will mean for these independent agencies.
